Judy Pex on Caring for Sudanese Refugees

How are we to think about the Refugee Crises in the world? Here’s a good example of responding to an influx of refugees. This Christian couple living in Israel saw new people groups come and responded immediately with God’s love.

Although there are differences between the Sudanese refugees who came to Eilat and the mostly Middle-Eastern refugees who are flooding into Europe, I believe many of the principles we can apply as followers of Jesus are the same. We are told many times in the Scriptures not to fear. We are never told that it is our job to preserve the Christian character of our nation but rather to love the stranger, to love our neighbor as ourselves and to feed the hungry. When the Sudanese came to our town, we saw needy people and didn’t involve ourselves with what kind of refugee or economic migrant they actually were. We saw people who needed to hear about Jesus and we had the resources to tell and to help them, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I pray that many Christians in Europe and America will do the same.
